Australian Women Photographers 1840-1960 (above) was initiated, co-researched and written by Barbara Hall, with a range of public funding and published in 1986 by Greenhouse. Historian Prof. Bernard smith wrote, "No Australian art library should be without it."

Barbara Hall was commissioned by the National Trust to write a catalogue essay for the 2004-2005 national touring exhibition, Jean Bellette Retrospective (right).
She has curated major exhibitions for the ACTU (1988) (left) and for the Australian Gallery Directors Council (1982). She has a graduate diploma in visual arts from Monash University.
